Gérard Patate

Can you spot anything different in this picture? Calvin, Sharon, Heidi & Bea happily introduce Gérard Patate Neufeld as the newest resident of D'Arcy Manor.

His favourite spot to lounge so far is on the chest by the living room windows. He wags his tail at every bird, squirrel, or human that comes into view.

Gérard always walks around with his fluffy tail pointed up to the ceiling, swaying to and fro.

Who wouldn't love this little man?

Amazingly, there weren't any confrontations between Gérard and mum's cat Rachid, or between any of the cats and dogs. The cats were a little shy at first, but they could soon be found following each other around the house.

The happy tail:
For all you facebook naysayers, this is for you! Facebook has officially saved a life. On Thursday, Sharon spotted this furry feline on a friend's facebook page with a note explaining that he was going to be "put to sleep" if not adopted by Friday. Gérard is a 1 yr. old declawed (ouch), neutered (ouch), beautiful, healthy cat who was just too playful for his 10 yr. old sib. After unsuccessfully trying to find him a new home, his owner (in Montreal) was of the opinion that animal shelters are too sad and that putting him to sleep would be a more humane option. Upon calling his owner on Thursday, we learned that Gérard was actually going to be put down that night. By chance, Cal and Sharon had actually planned a trip to Montreal for that very weekend. Needless to say, we decided to be foster parents, picked him up Friday night, and shortly thereafter decided to be adoptive parents. We love you Gérard!

His first name in his first home was Indigo, then his second owner named him Tucson but also called him Gérard. We didn't want to change his name but also could never remember Tucson, so we went with Gérard, and added the Patate in honor of the best french fry resto ever (and he's also round like a potato).

What a gorgeous cat! And playful, too? I can't even begin to imagine how his owner could have contemplated ending his life. So so so glad to welcome Gerard Patate into the family! With love from Grandma

Its so cool that you got a cat. And he is so gorgeous.

Funny/perfect/whatever that he's such a "pacified" male.

Can't wait to meet him.
