Bride-to-be

This weekend we went to Montreal where Sharon was surprised with a bridal shower and bachelorette party. Cara deserves a great deal of praise for pulling all this together. Above and beyond. Thankful we are (a la Yoda). Among the fun of the weekend was a toilet-paper wedding dress contest. I was paired with Sharon and designed a lovely Indian-inspired mini-thing. Unfortunately we didn't win since mom's sense of style and Meghan's modelling outdid us. And an honourable mention goes to Jason for being such a good sport and a great model.

Then there was the bachelorette, where Sharon got a little tipsy, a little goofy as the evening wore on. I stayed pretty sober despite my drunkenness, as usual. Cara won the drinking contest (what contest?), another long-standing tradition. Sharon and I were decked out with "bride-to-be" necklaces, tiaras, and the like. All part of the initiation process, from what I gather.

The next day was Nathanael's dedication, and we went to Cara and Jon's open house afterwards. Sharon spent quality time with Michaela under her umbrella-ella-ella while we visited with good friends and had plenty of opportunities to brag about Heidi & Beatrice.

And of course, our babies, Heidi and Bea, had so much fun this past weekend that they actually slept through the night and only barfed three times after the long car ride home. Beatrice, being black and beautiful, got to parade around in Sharon's bride-to-be necklace. All in all, a fun and exhausting weekend. Well worth a week or two of lying to Sharon in the desperate hope of keeping it all a surprise!
